Changing Trends in the Global Economy and Growth Strategies for Japan and Asia

IIMA held the second of twelve events in its 30th Anniversary Program "The Turbulent Global Situation and the Future of the Japanese Economy and the Yen," a webinar titled "Changing Trends in the Global Economy and Growth Strategies for Japan and Asia."

In recent years, the global economic order has undergone major changes, including de-globalization, slow trade, the shift to a service economy, the prolonged U.S.-China confrontation, and the slowdown of China's economic growth. Trade policies such as mutual tariffs announced by the second Trump administration in the U.S. have further increased uncertainty in the global economy and financial markets, and this could be a turning point in the global economic order. While Asian countries other than China are seeking to mitigate the negative effects of bilateral negotiations with the U.S. and expect to benefit from a shift in exports and investment from China, they are also increasingly concerned about damage to their domestic industries from the influx of cheap Chinese goods.

This webinar provided an overview of the changing trends in the global economy and discussed the possible impact of the second Trump administration's trade policies on the global economy, growth strategies that Asian countries including Japan can adopt, and the responses required from companies.
