Collaborative Program between WB and JICA - Assessing and Managing Debt-Related Fiscal Risks
In February 2026, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) conducted a training program titled “JICA–World Bank Joint Program on Assessment and Management of Debt-Related Fiscal Risks.” This program has been held continuously for over a decade, and since 2016, IIMA has been involved in its administration and the delivery of lectures.
The program brought together 31 senior officials from fiscal authorities and related institutions in developing countries across 27 countries in the Pacific region, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. The participants were invited to Japan to attend the training.
In addition to delivering lectures on “Fiscal Investment and Loan Program (FILP): Its Contribution to Japan’s Postwar Development” and “The Japanese Economy from a Financial Perspective,” IIMA also proposed and arranged a lecture on “Blended Finance” delivered by MUFG Bank. In all sessions, participants from developing countries listened attentively, and numerous questions were raised following the lectures.
Through collaboration with JICA, IIMA is able to contribute to support for developing countries while also gaining valuable insights into their on-the-ground realities—opportunities that are not easily accessible under normal circumstances. We will continue to actively engage in collaborative initiatives with JICA going forward.
